There is a growing variety of free e-books and associated educational material available for either download or online use. These include:

• Classic books — largely novels — that are beyond their copyright dates, but which are still used extensively by schools for all grades.
• The beginnings of the development of electronic textbooks covering many K-12 curriculum subjects.
• Educationally-organized access to non-book Web resources.

The following is a short list of e-book sources that Textbook Central has found to be particularly useful. Note that one of the Web-Books links provides a list of 175 classics, selected by Textbook Central, that may be easily sorted by title, author, or classification.

Textbook Central encourages both public and non-public schools to take advantage of these electronic resources to both reduce costs and enhance educational opportunities.
